BYDGOSZCZ AT EUROSONIC IN GRONINGEN
40,000 participants, 350 emerging artists from all over Europe, over 4,000 professionals from the music industry – the cult EUROSONIC showcase festival ended in Groningen, the Netherlands.
Bydgoszcz was represented there. Anna Tarnowska, who heads the Bydgoszcz UNESCO City of Music program (at the Municipal Cultural Center in Bydgoszcz, which coordinates the program on behalf of the city), was invited to participate in the panel “This Must be The Place: Book Launch and Discussion on the State of EU Music Cities” ( “This Must be The Place” – book premiere and discussion on the condition of European music cities). In addition to the ambassador from Bydgoszcz, the panel included: Shein Shapiro, author of the above-mentioned book and an undisputed expert on cultural policies of cities, specializing in music; Misia Furtak, award-winning artist, cultural manager and activist, winner of the Polityka Passport; Merlijn Poolman, Night Mayor of Groningen, structurally working on the link between the government, club owners and consumers of culture and entertainment and artistic life.
WHAT IS EUROSONIC
Founded in 1986, ESNS hosts the annual four-day show festival and music conference EUROSONIC. This year, the event attracted approximately 40,000 guests and 350 emerging European artists. The festival and conference attracted over 4,000 music industry professionals, including 400 international festivals. Throughout the day, the leading conference featured over 150 panel discussions, interviews, keynotes and more that addressed pressing topics and the need for social change in the music industry. European bands at night. performed in various locations in the heart of Groningen, and on the last day. young Dutch artists were presented in the De Oosterpoort concert hall.
