Bydgoszcz Music Summit 2024

December 02-03, 2024 – Bydgoszcz Municipal Cultural Center
Bydgoszcz Music Summit 2024 is a two-day event of international significance aimed at shaping the future of the European music industry. Our ambition is to create a framework for a document setting the directions of the industry, as well as to develop guidelines to support the consistent development of the sector at the European level. With the presence of experts, industry leaders and decision-makers, we look forward to fruitful discussions and exchanges. The event will take place on December 2 and 3, and will be streamed live in two languages on our FB and on the ICC’s youtube channel.

December 02, 2024 (Monday), Ostromecko Palace and Park Complex (Palace New) – Focus on Cities
Representatives of UNESCO Music Cities from around the world will share their experiences in building strategies to support the music and creative sector. Bydgoszcz, as a new member of this Network, aspires to develop its brand as a UNESCO City of Music, drawing inspiration from more experienced cities. The introduction to the discussion will be an analysis of the role of music as a tool for environmental and social transformation, which will show how cities can contribute to the goals of Agenda 2030 through the development of culture and music.

December 03, 2024 (Tuesday), Bydgoszcz City Cultural Center – Focus on Policy
We will launch an effort to create a European Strategy for the Development of the Music Industry. Our goal is to develop an initial framework that will be the starting point for further international cooperation and building a coherent vision for the development of music in Europe. The presence of experts and numerous representatives of the industry provides a unique opportunity for constructive exchange of knowledge and joint development of a strategy that will help overcome the difficulties faced by artists in the international arena.

For the second day of the conference, registration is required via the registration form

During the second day, we will focus on four key areas:

– Artists’ mobility and the flow of musical works: we seek to identify and discuss ways to overcome administrative and social barriers that may limit international artists’ activities.
– European export strategy for music: our aspiration is to develop a strategy that will strengthen the presence of European artists in global markets, taking into account musical diversity.
– Digital regulation and copyright protection: in the context of the rapidly growing importance of digital platforms, we intend to look at the sector’s needs for rights protection and remuneration for creators.
– The role of cities and regions in the sustainable development of the music sector: we will discuss how cities can support the development of local music ecosystems while fostering economic, social and environmental change.

Bydgoszcz Music Summit 2024 aims not only to strengthen the city’s position on the international music scene, but also to create a platform to jointly seek directions for the music industry in Europe for years to come.
