It’s official – Bydgoszcz has become part of the Creative Tourism Network, an international network of cities and regions that develop creative tourism based on participation, co-creation, and authentic contact with local culture. The city’s inclusion in yet another international network took place in Barcelona at a conference accompanying the World Conference on Cultural Policies MONDIACULT 2025, thanks to the efforts of representatives of the Bydgoszcz City of Music UNESCO program.
What is the Creative Tourism Network?
The Creative Tourism Network is a global organization promoting a modern approach to travel, in which tourists are not limited to sightseeing, but actively participate in the life of the place they visit. This allows them to discover its unique character by participating in workshops on crafts, music, cuisine, art, and nature.
The network’s goal is to support local artists, develop sustainable tourism, and build bridges between cultures.
What will Bydgoszcz gain?
Membership in the Creative Tourism Network offers a range of benefits for the city, its residents, and the local economy, including:
- international promotion of Bydgoszcz as a destination for creative and sustainable tourism,
- development of new tourist attractions and additional sources of income for local businesses,
- expert support in creating innovative tourism products,
- the opportunity to exchange experiences with other creative cities around the world during annual conferences,
- strengthening local identity through culture, art, and cross-sector cooperation.
Next steps
At the beginning of next year, Bydgoszcz, in cooperation with experts from the Creative Tourism Network, will begin work on developing its creative tourism offering. This process will involve mapping the city’s potential, organizing design workshops, and creating new initiatives together with the local community.
The aim of these activities is to develop attractive and authentic creative tourism products that will strengthen the image of Bydgoszcz as a modern, open, and inspiring city.
