Contemporary Transgressive Opera – another project under The Platform of Newly Transgressive Sounds is launched

2024

As we’ve mentioned many times before, The Platform of Newly Created Transgressive Sounds application project is all about pushing the boundaries of art. This time we will be doing so by working in the field of opera music, specifically, by working on a libretto for an opera.

And we won’t do it alone. Each of you can add your thoughts, ideas, texts, inspirations to the Contemporary Trangressive Opera.

On August 9, an online platform was launched, through which you can send your ideas in any form: text files, forms and surveys, photos, graphics or video files. They can relate to plots, characters, dialogues or scenes of the libretto. To ensure that in a free, but also coherent way, Internet users can refer to the drama under construction, the dramaturgy and plot canvass of the work will be supervised by a team – the Librettists Group. On the site you will also find a framework description on the overall concept of the libretto.

The final libretto will be written by acclaimed playwright Malgorzata Miszczuk-Sikorska.

You can find the link to the platform here: https://artmintaka.com/wspoltworz-libretto/

You can send your ideas until September 20.

About the project:

What is Contemporary Transgressive Opera anyway? It is a contemporary opera platform, to which the authors of the project have invited a group of creators: playwright (Malgorzata Miszczuk-Sikorska), philosophers (Piotr Piotrowski, Maciej Zygmuntowicz), psychologist and analytical psychotherapist (Arkadiusz Mikolajczyk), theater and opera director (Maja Kleczewska), Roman philologist (Agnieszka Gorzycka), visual and stage designer (Katarzyna Tretyn), musicians (Dorota Nowak, Joanna Czapińska Tomasz Gluska, Mateusz Szwankowski, Krzysztof “Freeze” Ostrowski), composer (Rafał Gorzycki), actors (Witold Szulc and actors of the Polish Theater in Bydgoszcz), choirmaster along with the choir (Agnieszka Sowa and the Choir of the Bydgoszcz University of Technology), eventually also the Orchestra of New Music by Szymon Bywalec, Joanna Freszel and the Chamber Choir of the F. Nowowiejski Academy of Music in Bydgoszcz. F. Nowowiejski in Bydgoszcz, as well as other artists, researchers and scientists of various disciplines and from different centers – preparing together all the necessary elements of an opera work leading to its final staging.

The culmination of the activities of the first year of this platform will be the PERFORMATIVE ACT – a reading of the first version of the libretto, along with sketches of the score and elements of the stage design presented. It is scheduled for November 11, 2024 in Bydgoszcz’s club MÓZG.
